Palm and Silver Birch are our two Year 5 bases.
We explore our rich and balanced curriculum
with enthusiasm and passion.
Would you like to know more about what your child is learning in Maths?
The Learning at Home challenges have been sent out via email and can also be found on Seesaw. Remember that there are activities that your child can complete on Seesaw too, as well as the maths booklets below.
We look forward to welcoming you back on Thursday 19th November.
-In writing this week we have been 'magpie-ing' interesting words from mythical creatures texts. If you want to read about all the creatures again, take a look at the activity page on Seesaw.
-In our spelling lesson this week we looked at how adding suffixes to a word changes its meaning.
-In maths, we have been reading timetables and to solve problems. It is really good to keep practising calculating time intervals by looking at the time regularly and working out how long it is until tea time etc.
-Whilst Silver Birch were out in Forest School this week, Palm were investigating the force of gravity on the weight of objects.
-In sewing, we have all been learning new stitches for our binca sampler ready for an art/DT mini-project later in the term.
To support your child at home, please continue reading books at home, logging in on TTRS to practise times tables and choose activities on Seesaw to complete.
We have been encouraging children to log in to Times Tables Rock Stars to practise their mental maths. Please allow children time at home to log in as well if you can.
Year 5 Curriulum Map coming soon!
At Marpool, we are using the White Rose Maths Scheme to support us in with teaching and learning the National Curriculum for maths. You and your child might like to extend their learning at home by practising what we have been doing in class using these booklets. You do not have to print them out (unless you want to of course!) - simply look at the tasks from the screen and answer on a piece of paper. The answers are all there too!
Booklets will be added to our website as the topics are covered in class.
