How do I apply for a place at Marpool?

Where do I find the term dates?
Term dates can be found under the News and Diary menu header, as well as under Quick Links.
How do I find out about other important dates?
Wondering when mufti (wear your own clothes) is? Which day is World Book Day? The answers will be in the latest newsletter, on Facebook and in your text messages. You can also look at the school calendar on our website.
There are also individual Facebook groups for each year which you might find useful; other parents can answer your questions there.
Can I go on holiday during the school term?
If it is absolutely necessary for you to take your child out of school during term time, a request form for an authorised absence is available from the school office or can be downloaded from our Online Office. You will need to sign your child out if you are leaving before the end of the school day.
My child has a medical appointment during the school day.
Please let us know when you drop off at the beginning of the day. We will request that you sign your child out when you come to collect. We may request to see a copy of the appointment letter or text.
My child is ill - how do I contact you?
Please call us on 01395 263961.
If your child is not in school and we have had no contact from you, we will try to call the people on your child's contact list as part of our 'Safe to School' scheme. If we are unable to make contact and your child is still not in school, we will let other agencies know - your child's safety is our main priority.

How do I pay for lunches?
School lunches are paid for and selected online using the School Gateway app the night before. Each meal costs £2.35. Many parents find the app very easy to use. Your login details will have been sent you by the office. If you need a reminder of the details, please do contact us and we will happily send them to you again.
You can top up your child's account by as much as you like. The money will then be deducted when you order a lunch.

Your child is also welcome to bring in a healthy packed lunch to school in a named lunch bag or box. These are stored in base.

Do nursery children need to wear uniform?
Yes, all Marpool children are part of our family. For further information, take a look at the uniform page.
What are the Marpool Top Ten?
The Marpool Top Ten is something that we refer to when thinking about choices. Please take a look at our Rewards page for more information.
What equipment will my child need?
Please bring in a named water bottle each day. During the colder and wetter months, children are expected to bring in a warm coat. In the summer, please bring in a named hat and suntan lotion.
If you child is going to Forest School, older clothes and wellies may be required. Your teacher will be in touch.
All books, pencils and paper are provided in school. Your child does not need a pencil case.
Please leave all toys at home.
Can my child bring in a mobile phone?
Children are not allowed mobile phones on the school site. Children who walk home alone are allowed to bring a mobile phone to school and it must be brought to the school office before registration, turned off. They are left there at their own risk.
I have a new address!
If you move house , change your phone number or set up a new preferred email address, please let us know and we can update our records. This way we can continue sending you information and can contact you.

How do I receive newsletters and school messages?
When a family joins Marpool, we ask you to complete a form with your contact details. We email out newsletters and send text messages. These are sent out to one parent. Newsletters can also be found on our website. If you have signed up to the Eduspot app (where you will find the schoolmoney function), you will receive messages on there whilst connected to wifi. Otherwise, you might find them in your normal text messages section on your phone.
If family circumstances have changed, please contact us and we can add on a second parent onto our system.
I am struggling financially
How is my child getting on?
We have regular slots during the school year where you will be updated on progress. This will be via a Parents Evening and reports. Teachers often send home little notes or text messages too. Please take a look at the Progress at School page for more information.
If you would like to speak to your child's teacher, please do contact us and they will arrange a convenient time.
Do you sell second-hand uniform?
Yes! The Marpool School Association (MSA) hold regular second-hand uniform sales. Please take a look at their page. You will also receive details of the next sale in your newsletter or via text.
I would love to get involved at Marpool!
Great! There are several ways of becoming involved.
You could join the MSA, volunteer to listen to children read, help out on school trips and help at fundraising events. Occasionally, there are Governor vacancies too.
*When restrictions are eased, we will be able to welcome more people on site. At the moment, only staff are allowed to be in school.
