Welcome to Maple and Holly Base!
This week, we are:
- thinking about kings and queens in the past
- looking at how the Queen has changed over time
- exploring our grounds
- thinking about the words: compare and parade
- designing and making crowns
- creating a new jubilee stamp for the Krispies design a stamp competition
- looking at addition by counting on
To support us at home, you might:
We are learning to read words where the letter 's' makes a 'z' sound.
You might practise reading the following words:
We are developing our understanding of addition.
If you have any board games at home such as snakes and ladders. You can practise rolling the dice and a moving on. Talk about how the number gets bigger when we add.
Talk about where the Queen lives. Have you ever been to London or have any of your family been to London? Talk about what it is like.
Please continue to read at least 3 times a week. It makes such a huge difference. Please also ensure that your child's Reading Record is in school every day.

Reading meeting: Friday 20th May
We would like to invite you into school at 9am in the hall to discuss our new reading programme - Big Cat Collins Letters and Sounds which links with Little Wandle Letters and Sounds. In this meeting we will share the electronic books that we are going to use and how to support your child with reading at home.

Please make sure that your child has a pair wellies and warm coat in school.
Jubilee Afternoon Tea Celebration: Thursday 26th May
We would like to invite you to join us for a cream tea celebration. You will receive an invite shortly and further information will follow but we wanted to let you know to save the date!
Special Storytime (every Monday and Thursday)
We would like to invite parents into school at 2.45pm every Monday and Thursday (starting on Monday 16th May) to have a special story time with us. This is an opportunity to hear your child read and share some special time with them in school. We understand that you might not be able to come in all of the time but we would love to welcome you into school.
