Year 5

Welcome to Silver Birch and Palm Base!


 This week we are: 

  • Learning how to use a protractor to measure different types of angles.
  • Celebrating the Queen's Platinum Jubilee - we hope you can join us!
  • Welcoming Rosie Johnson into school who is going to help us create some special artwork to celebrate the Jubilee.
  • Writing about what we would do if we were monarchs for the day. 
  • Continuing to learn basic first aid skills. This week is about treating burns.

At home this week:

  • Can you draw the different types of angles? Make a poster to help you remember them. 
  • As we celebrate the Queen's Jubilee in school this week, find out:
    - who had the shortest reign in British history,
    - which monarch has reigned for the longest time;
  • Remember to read at least 3 times and ask your grown-up to sign your Reading Record (we will check these every Friday).
  • Here are this week's spelling words:

  • you can let us know about your home learning on Seesaw - Y5 teachers will look on Seesaw every Wednesday.

 Swimming has now finished for this year. This will commence again in Year 6.

PE is on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays during the summer term so children will need to come to school in their PE kit on those days. 

Forest school is every Wednesday starting with Silver Birch on 27th April (PE kit to be worn with suitable footwear and waterproofs to change into). Palm base will be after May half term.
